Meat-packing plants of Gomel and Zhlobin resume supplies to Russia

GOMEL, March 18 (BelTA) – The meat-packing plants of Gomel and Zhlobin resumed supplies of their products to the Russian Federation, BelTA learnt from the agriculture and food department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee. The first lots of meat and meat products (40 tonnes) were supplied to commercial organizations of Moscow and St. Petersburg on March 17. A reminder, In October 2008, the meat-packing plants of Gomel and Zhlobin suspended their supplies to the Russian Federation according to the resolution of the Russian Federal Agency of Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor). During the export ban, the plants developed and carried out a range of the prevention measures aimed at improving the quality of their products. On the base of the presented documents and consultations, Rosselkhoznadzor has allowed the plants to resume their supplies to Russia. The total export of meat and meat products produced by the Gomel meat-packing plant and the Zhlobin meat-packing plant is 500 tonnes per month.
