Election campaign in Gomel oblast in full compliance with legislation, CIS observer

The stages of the election campaign in the Gomel oblast – the formation of district and precinct commissions, registration of candidates to the deputies - were held in full compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, Ivan Kotlobai, a coordinator in the Gomel oblast from the CIS observation mission, told reporters on August 29. “In a private talk the OCSE observers – and these are representatives from Russia, the Netherlands, Austria - also confirmed that there were no violations in the work of district commissions,” he said. Ivan Kotlobai added that in the Gomel oblast “there is not a single constituency where there will be no competition between the candidates, which means the voters will have a choice.”
