8 Gomel students receive scholarships of Sukhoi Design Bureau

MINSK, February 19 (BelTA) – Eight students and two postgraduates of Pavel Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel became scholarship holders of Sukhoi Design Bureau (Moscow). The scholarships are RUB10,000, BelTA learnt from provost of the university Viktor Kirienko. Not only the students, but also their parents were honoured at the university on February 19. The parents received letters of thanks from the university administration. Relatives of Pavel Sukhoi donated some personal belongings of the renowned aviation engineer to the university museum. Founded 70 years ago, Sukhoi Design Bureau is a leading manufacturer of military and civil aircraft. The name of Pavel Sukhoi was given to Gomel Polytechnic Institute 13 years ago. Then the cooperation between the Gomel university and the famous Russian enterprise began with traditional seminars, scientific and practical conferences. The ideas of Gomel scientists were frequently used by the Russian bureau. More than 100 students and postgraduates as well as five leading scientists of the university became scholarship holders and laureates of Sukhoi Design Bureau.
