BMZ’ output 9.9% up in January-April

In January-April, Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) increased the output of steel 9.9% over the same period last year to 825.7 thousand tonnes, Anatoly Volkov, the chief of the BMZ planning-economic analysis department told BelTA. Over the four months BMZ made 676.2 thousand tonnes of rolled steel, 13% up over the same period 2007, 103 thousand tonnes of hardware, 12.6% up. In January-April, the works made almost 14 thousand tonnes of seamless hot-rolled pipes. Under the period in review, the output was up 7.8% to Br1 trillion 218.8 billion. According to preliminary data, exports were 27.9% to $572.4 million. Founded in 1984, Belarusian Steel Works is an export-oriented company delivering its products to more than 50 countries. Exports account for 85% of the output. BMZ manufactures cast sections, rolled sections, profiled iron, reinforcing bars, metal cord and other kinds of wire. In July, Belarusian Steel Works started the production of seamless hot-rolled pipes.
