Belarusian Gomselmash testing grain harvester in Sudan
GOMEL, 28 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian agricultural machinery engineering company Gomselmash is busy testing the grain harvester KZS-575 in Sudan, BelTA learned from representatives of Gomselmash’s non-CIS sales division.
The agreement on arranging the test was reached during the Belarusian-Sudanese business forum in Sudan’s capital in January 2017 when the Belarus president visited the country.
Sudan is located in the northeastern part of Africa. Sorghum is one of the staple grain crops grown in the region. Sorghum harvesting has its own peculiarities in comparison with rye or wheat harvesting. While grain in sorghum heads may be ripe, the rest of the crop remains green. If harvested using the conventional approach, the resulting mass will be too soggy for quality threshing. Apart from that, the grain bunker needs to be better sealed since sorghum grains are small.
These peculiarities were taken into account as Gomselmash specialists were getting prepared for the test. The Gomselmash team in Sudan includes representatives of the regional sales department, the advertising and vehicle demonstration office, the maintenance office, and the harvester engineering division. The test run of the Belarusian sorghum harvester is supposed to end in early May.
The grain harvester KZS-575, which is marketed as Palesse GS575, is an economy-class harvester intended for small and medium enterprises that need compact and mobile machines. Powered by a 155hp engine, the harvester is designed for small areas under crops, for small fields with yields of under 25 centners per hectare. Gomselmash intends to sell the harvesters to Sudanese farmers. The capacity of the market can be evaluated bearing in mind that areas under sorghum occupy several million hectares.

The company offers self-propelled and towed forage harvesters, mower balers, grain harvesters, mounted mower shredders, potato harvesters, cotton harvesters, and beet harvesters.
