More than 1500 children from the regions of the Mogilev, Brest and Gomel oblasts affected by the Chernobyl disaster became the participants of the charity event “Christmas tree – our children” which was held in the Gomel State Circus on January 9, BelTA has learnt.
The children enjoyed a four-hour entertainment programme. It included various competitions, quizzes, performances of the artists from the Mogilev and Brest oblasts. After the circus performance each little participant of the charity event received a gift of sweets.
The press service of the BRSM Youth Union Gomel office said that the traditional charity event “Christmas tree – our children” has been held for the 15th time. It is organized for the children living in the remote areas of the country, in the regions affected by the Chernobyl disaster and children from orphanages. Last year, children from the Bryansk and Chernigov oblasts were invited to participate in this Christmas party.
The main goal of this charity event is to provide spiritual, social and creative support for children and teenagers. It is organized by the BRSM Youth Union, department for the mitigation of the Chernobyl aftermath of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry, the Education Ministry and the Belarusian Children’s Fund.
