MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – A new oil influx has been uncovered in the Western Slavan oil field (Svetlogorsk region near the village of Slavan) thanks to efforts of Belgeologiya specialists, the company’s Chief Geologist for Oil and Gas Yaroslav Gribik told BelTA.
The oil influx of six cubic metres per day was uncovered in Western Slavan oil well No. 56 during probes into intersalt deposits 3,343-3,370 metres below the surface. “This is part of the Western Slavan oil field where we are now stepping up our research efforts,” noted Yaroslav Gribik. “The oil influx confirms the promising outlook on it. Perspective intervals at upper levels are being tested in the well”.
Seeking more oil deposits in the Svetlogorsk region, the geologists are drilling a new well there — Novopolesskaya No. 18. “We are exploring intersalt deposits 2,670 metres below the surface and hope that the exploitation pillar will produce commercial oil flow here, too,” said the Chief Geologist.
Oil deposits are being prospected at the Novokorenevskoye oil field as well. In Q2 2009 the efforts increased the commercial oil reserves by 102,000 tonnes while the target was set at 100,000 tonnes. A while ago Belgeologiya handed over wells No. 12 and 13 for commercial operation to Belorusneft. The oil field is still being examined. New exploitation wells are being drilled — Novokorenevskoya No. 15 and Novokorenevskoya No. 17 1,200-1,400 metres below the surface.
Promising oil fields are being prospected in the Yelnya region as well. Well Novoyelskaya No. 42 is being drilled, 3,243 metres deep at present. “Drilling is complicated by operating conditions, however, we continue drilling deeper and expect to find a new promising stratum 3,700 metres below the surface,” said the source.
This year geological exploration will be performed in the Shatilka area of the Pripyat depression. Preparations for drilling new well Shatilka No. 12 are underway there.
The search for and exploration of new oil fields is envisaged by the state programme for geological exploration meant to develop the mineral resources base of Belarus in 2006-2010 and till 2020. The document provides for further increase in proprietary fuel and energy potential of the republic, for prospecting and preparation of new deposits of construction materials and other kinds of raw stock, for regional geological surveying of Belarusian mineral resources and other goals.
Belgeologiya surveys and explores all kinds of mineral resources, keeps record of and monitors the available reserves. Belgeologiya in association with the Geology Department of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry plan geological exploration works in advance.
