Development of economic contacts at the regional level has been considered today by chairman of the Gomel oblast executive committee Alexander Yakobson and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Belarus Rajendra Kumar Tyagi who is on a working visit to Gomel.
In particular, Alexander Yakobson has offered to set up a joint venture in the sphere of pharmacology in the free economic zone Gomel-Raton. The proposal has been welcomed. In turn, the diplomat has showed great interest in improving contacts between the Indian agrarians and the production association Gomselmash. According to him, business relations would promote participation of Belarusian manufacturers in agricultural exhibitions frequently held in India.
Mr. Rajendra Kumar Tyagi has highly praised the quality of education in Belarus. According to him, this fact has not to be touted as Indian graduates from Belarusian universities show their qualifications and professionalism at home. The ambassador is convinced that Indian students feel more comfortable in Belarus than in some English-speaking countries. Therefore, the number of students eager to receive education in Belarus will be increasing.
Alexander Yakobson has invited the Indian diplomat to visit the exhibition Spring in Gomel-2006 and partake in the Gomel investment forum in May 2006. He has also asked the diplomat to inform members of the Indian business on these events.
The program of the visit includes a meeting between the ambassador and Indian students from Gomel State University. At present about 300 young people from India are receiving medical education in Belarus. Besides, Mr. Rajendra Kumar Tyagi is expected to visit the company Gomeldrev, the republican scientific-practical center for radiation medicine and ecology and make a tour of the Palace and Park Ensemble.
