In 2001-2005 milk production in public sector of Gomel oblast grows 1,5 times

In 2001-2005 milk production in the public sector of Gomel oblast grew by 52 per cent. For example, in 2000 some 361 thousand tons of milk were produced, in 2005 – 549 thousand tons, BelTA was informed in the agriculture and foodstuffs department of the Gomel oblast executive committee. All regions of the oblast increased milk production. Agricultural companies of the Petrikov, Svetlogorsk, Elsk and Gomel regions were leaders in this field. In 2000 every cow gave on average 1808 kilos of milk, in 2005 – 3268 kilos. All indices characterizing development of the dairy branch of the cattle breeding industry were improved within the five-year period, the department underlined.
