In January-February 2006 Gomel region's fixed-capital investments amounted to Br 285.5 billion, 68 per cent up on the corresponding period of last year in comparable prices, representatives of Gomel region administration's economy committee told BelTA.
The money was spent mainly on industrial facilities — Br 222.3 billion, 80 per cent up on January-February 2005. Social security investments amounted to Br 63.2 billion, 22.1 per cent of the total and 136.2 per cent as against the respective period of last year.
Gomel region juridical and natural persons spent Br 35.8 billion on building dwelling houses, including Br 11.6 billion spent on building dwelling houses in rural areas. The investment in housing construction went up by 53.1 per cent up on the corresponding period of last year in comparable prices.
Proprietary investments of the companies accounted for 59.1 per cent of the total investment volume, bank loans — 15.4 per cent, state central and local budgets — 12.8 per cent and 8.8 per cent respectively. Over the two months individuals invested Br 8 billion or 2.8 per cent of the total.
