The national budget will authorize more than Br2 trillion to minimize the Chernobyl consequences in Gomel oblast in 2006-2010, chief of the Chernobyl department of the Gomel oblast executive committee Evgeniy Belash has stated today at the department’s collegium. The meeting discussed the activity of the oblast department in 2001-2005 and the goals for the five ensuing years.
According to Evgeniy Belash, the financial resources will be allocated to implement the law on social security of the population affected by the Chernobyl disaster – compensations, benefits, pensions, free school meals, recuperation.
In 2006 the republican budget will allocate Br316 billion to mitigate the Chernobyl consequences in Gomel oblast. Of them Br70 billion will be spent to strengthen protective measures in agricultural industry of the oblast.
In 2006 some 356 families of the disabled people whose disability is attributed to the Chernobyl disaster will be provided with new housing.
