Gomel oblast fulfils all targets of socio-economic development in January-February

Gomel oblast have fulfilled all the targets of the socio-economic development of the region in January-February 2006, BelTA was informed by chairman of the economy committee of the oblast executive committee Elvira Karnitskaya. Thus, the industrial production soared by 14.3 per cent over the two months. Output of consumer goods grew by 9.2 per cent, that of agricultural products – by 8.5 per cent. The foreign economic activities of the oblast were even more fruitful, Elvira Karnitskaya noted. According to the estimates, exports jumped by 27 per cent while import went down by 15 per cent. The foreign trade surplus made up about USD 450 million. Investments to the fixed capital almost tripled. It is noteworthy, that organizations of all forms of ownership reported quite a dynamic growth in investments. Outperformed were the targets on trade turnover and fee services to the public as well as those on energy saving.
