At the end of December 2005 the republican unitary company Gomel works Tsentrolit made the first 10-ton assignment of foundry iron billets to England for the country’s engineering industry. After English experts analyze the production quality, the sides will consider a long-term contract. At the end of 2005 one of the Swedish firms was also supplied with a similar assignment of foundry iron, the marketing department of the company told BelTA.
Specialists informed, in recent years Tsentrolit has largely expanded its overseas sales area and increased sales volumes both in the CIS and non-CIS states. The European Union accounts for a quarter of the exported make. Hungary, Germany, France, Finland and other countries willingly buy hollow casting and a wide choice of products for the housing and utilities industry. Last year export exceeded USD 8.1 million, 14.5 per cent up on 2004.
Gomel foundry Tsentrolit specializes in grey iron and high durability cast iron as well as brass, aluminium and zinc alloys. The mass of the casting varies from 0.01 kg to 20 tons. The plant is one of the ten largest enterprises of Gomel. The company employs around 2,100 people.
