Belarusian team comes third on International Sports Day of CIS sports and technical societies

The Gomel oblast team of the voluntary society of assistance to the army, aviation and fleet /DOSAAF/ has won the third place at the 4th international competitions of the union of sports and technical societies of the CIS member-states in Bryansk. According to the information given to BelTA in the DOSAAF central council, apart from Belarusian sportsmen, teams from Moscow and Bryansk as well as Kaluga, Lipetsk, Smolensk, Orlov and Tula oblasts partook in the competitions. Belarusian DOSAAF athletes have always shown decent results at international competitions. Thus, in 2005 the Belarusian team won a record high number of awards. For example, the Belarusian national radio-telegraphy team became the world champion for the third time. Belarusians came third at the World Rowing and Sailing Cup and second at the Cup of Commonwealth 2005 in underwater sport. DOSAAF athletes took part in 16 championships, World and European Cups, 69 republican competitions on technical and aviation sports. All in all they won 145 medals, of them 49 gold, 49 silver and 47 bronze.
